Recreating a salt cave in a controlled environment of active sea components is the newest, original method of application of salt from the Dead Sea for prophylaxis, treatment and recreation.
In the last 10 years, salt caves have been gaining greater recognition throughout the world. They have been built and beneficially used in many countries including Poland, Pakistan, Israel, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Italy, Hungary, Finland, Austria, Germany, the UK and the USA. The salt caves that are built today, imitating the old salt mines, are coming closer to where people live. Salt caverns are objects with a unique appearance.
The Williamsburg Salt Spa salt cave is made of 15 tons of salt, imported from Poland and Pakistan, obtained through a pressure process, then covered by a mass of salt encrusted with salt nuggets. By using such tremendous amounts of salt from different parts of the world (Pakistan, Dead Sea, Poland: Klodawa) a unique microclimate with its exceptional bacteriological cleanliness is achieved,. Rich in ions, minerals and micro-elementary particles like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, bromine and iodine are loosened into the air. They are naturally absorbed into the human body during the therapy by breathing this saturated air into one's lungs and thus improve intake and supply of these irreplaceable elements necessary for good health, performance and overall fitness for people of all ages. The microclimate in a salt cave, is rich in all those minerals, and is almost the ideal location for inhalation. It's a complementary treatment, as it accelerates healing and helps our body to get to a desired balance.
Due to the fast growth of technology and resulting environmental pollution, more and more people suffer from allergies, asthma and civilization caused diseases. Outside air in cities and even mountain microclimate are weak in iodine and other elements important for our health. Dust, cigarette fumes, our modern convenient electrical appliances, such as TVs, computers, high-voltage networks and external pollution produce large quantities of positive ions creating an electrical imbalance in the air.
Williamsburg Salt Spa has floor heating and air-conditioning which helps to maintain a constant temperature of 75 degrees. This temperature is in salt mines and is the best for absorbing trace elements into the body. Humidity is between 40-50%. In our spa apart from salt, only natural materials: wood, plaster, natural resin and organic glues have been used.
Improvement of health and mood is noticeable after a few visits. One hour in the salt cave with the salt from the Dead Sea is equivalent to three days at the seaside

About 20 million years ago Eastern Europe was partially covered by a shallow sea. With the disappearance of the sea large amounts of layered salt were left behind. Nowadays they are bedded between 30 and 900 feet below the surface.
In the 14th century people started to mine salt for they own use and trade.
Among the other locations, large salt mines were developed in the South of Poland near Krakow.
1843 the Polish doctor Felix Boczkowski formulated that the presence of the air in the salt mines in Wieliczka in Poland saturated with dry salt particles caused healing effects on people with pulmonary and respiratory problems.
Our Salt Cave is almost identical in terms of physical, chemical and biological conditions, which also means a positive affect on health, using their Wieliczka models. The appearance and structure of the mine excavation has been restored with extraordinary care, and the system of air conditioning and ventilation devices maintains temperature, humidity and the special, unique microclimate that prevails in the mine.
